Engineers at haddock are action-oriented, curious, autonomous, and take full ownership of their work.

They are champions of figuring out the unknowns. They talk to customers, deliver quality work, improve our tooling, and are ambitious. We look for people with these same motivations and ways of working.

We strongly adhere to the Lean Startup and Agile principles, favoring action over analysis, imperfect iteration over perfect delivery, face-to-face communication, and a fast-paced environment.

We work on initiatives in small mission-oriented squads of 1 to 3 people.

Engineers are owners and work across the stack in order to achieve our objectives:

• Architect technical solutions

• Build backend and frontend code (80% backend, 20% frontend)

• Engineer AI workflows, balancing latency, cost and accuracy

• Do your own project management, rolling out your initiatives to customers

• Track users, measure interactions and extract conclusions

• Talk to customers to validate ideas and get feedback

Our processes and tools are constantly improving, and everyone contributes to making them better.

Keep-the-lights-on work is shared, like bug fixing, monitoring and dependency management. We succeed at this by having a rotating squad of Defenders that tackles this kind of maintenance work.

Some example high-level objectives that you could work towards in your first months are:

• Enabling Fina to match bank movements with invoices, finding gaps and reporting them to the suppliers via AI phone call.

• Enabling business data to tell the story of the restaurant to their owners, displaying them financial metrics and insights, and enabling AI agents to work on that data.

• Increasing adoption of inventories to 50% of customers, a crucial part of operations at a healthy restaurant business.

• Building MVPs for traceability, enabling groups of restaurants to comply with food health inspections, and evolve it beased on feedback.

➡️ Requirements

👉 3+ years of engineering experience working on SaaS applications in Agile environments. It's ok if you have 10+ years of experience in total, we just require previous work in SaaS Agile environments.

👉 Product Engineering experience: end-to-end from ideation, infrastructure, backend, frontend, testing, etc. because we aren't "factory developers", we are engineers of digital products responsible for outcomes, not for implementing requirements.

👉 Experience setting up or working with infrastructure: for example, using services, serverless functions, databases, external APIs, caches, queues, events, etc.

👉 Very good use of AI tooling: you have developed good judgement (criterio) when using IA and are very productive with it.

👉 Fluent in Spanish and comfortable in English. We tend to speak in Spanish at the office and in Slack, and write documentation and projects in English.

We move fast and communicate openly. Our goal is to wrap up the process within a week. Here's what to expect:

2. Call with Pol (co-founder, CEO), 25 mins.

3. Technical interviews with Guillermo and another engineer (2 hours). Part 1: architectural solution thinking, and part 2: AI-assisted live coding of an MVP.
